    Don't know about US way to do it right, but as far as I know you'll also have to see the bottle being opened bythe waiter. Not for a by the glass drink but if you order some bottle it seems logic that it is opened for you. This is also part of the waiter/sommelier/bartender job to open it right and to certify that you drink what you payed for.

    What about a wine that has a hint of Brett intentionally in it? Is that easily distinguishable from something that's spoiled from oxidation?
    Are some oxidized wines still tastey to some people? I guess it depends on the extent of spoilage, right?

    What do/does you/she mean by "*flat*" when describing wine?

    Altos de Hormigas! I actually have had that wine, kinda expensive arround here in Uruguay
